It wasn’t that long ago that everyone in America believed that Japan would soon overtake the United States as the dominant economic force on the planet. When the Japanese stock market rallied to historic heights in late 1989 and Japanese investors even bought Rockefeller Center in New York, it all seemed like a done deal. But then…the Nikkei Index tanked, the nation’s economy collapsed, the government responded with an ever-changing mix of tax hike and tax cuts, stimulus spending on infrastructure, massive bailouts of businesses, and more. None of it worked and Japan entered what’s been called its “Lost Decade,” a seemingly endless period of economic stagnation. What are the lessons for the US from Japan’s experience? Reason Foundation policy analyst Anthony Randazzo is the co-author of the recent study “Avoiding an American Lost Decade: Lessons from Japan’s bubble and recession” and a July 2009 cover story for Reason magazine, “Turning Japanese: Japan’s post-bubble policies produced a ‘lost decade.’ So why is President Obama emulating them?” As Randazzo explains, both the causes of and official responses to Japan’s bubble and economic slump eerily anticipate exactly what the US government is doing. Worse still, the Obama administration and Congress seem dead-set against the sorts of policies—across-the-board taxes on personal and business income, reductions in long-term and unsustainable government debt, and allowing damaged firms to go bankrupt—that would help …
US = country of assholes i hope you get nuked 4 times in the future
AMERICANS cannot refrain from spending money for such precious staffs that makes them looks cool, which “MADE THEM LOOKED COOLEST IN THE WORLDS + THE MILLION DOLLAR MOVIES THEY RELEASE ALL OVER THE WORLD.
THEY FEEL THEY OWN EVERYTHING,STEREOTYPES LIFES OF PEOPLES in other COUNTRIES SUCH AS ASIAN, JUST ON THE WAY THEY WEAR A DRESS, THE SIZE OF THEIR COCKS,
The defalation that occurred in Japan in the 1990s to 2000s was caused by decreased spending by the Japanese baby boomers.
Japan’s exports were ripping before the 2008.
Japanese lost decade was the result of trade pressure from the U.S. and Europe which forced the Japanese to raise the value of the yen relative to their currencies, and to rely more on its domestic consumption by lowering interest rates, which created a property and stock market bubble which eventually busted. If we would live in a completely capitalist, non interventionist world, perhaps the Japanese would really have ruled over the world.
I guess this is probably the reason the American DOES NOT want the Japanese to do videogames based off of American , Canadian European and Australian cartoon, movie, toy and comic book franchises, nowadays!
they have an alphabet <,<
Problem solved. Two alphabets already exist in Japanese, in addition to all the Kanji symbols.
Japan’s lost decade was a result of letting the yakuza do what they wanted. The yakuza ran Japan down. They made their money while the making was good and the government let them do it much like Bush with Enron and all these other crooked mega businesses. And no matter what country, State or city you live in, or whoever is president, general, prime minister or king, the government will always get their money. They’ve been doing it for centuries.
He has completely misdiagnosed the problem. In the opening part of this video, he is claiming that Japan’s lost decade resulted from a lack of swift and large enough action. Yet there is a reason it was called the lost DECADE. Japan followed exactly the same failed policies the US is promoting now, but repeated them several times over. There is no reason the economy should take 4-5 years to rebound, unless foolish government policies get in the way. Obama can’t have any more of my money.
おい。ヒラガナ3くん。うらさい!家へ行く!バカやろ!!!
waaaah waaaah waaaaaaaaaaah (horn)
How long he been in office? Obviously you didnt listen to his victory speech. He never said this will be a quick fix. He said it will be a long road. He even said it may not happen in his term. But what everyone seems to forget is that he said he needs EVERYBODY to help too. So stop sittin on your ass with your hand out like a big baby and unbutton your lip!
Because they have many words that are spelled and sound the same, but with different meanings.
I wonder why they still memorize all those symbols. They should use an alphabet.
with the ridiculous way obama and bush before him have been throwing money at the problem there seems to be a lack of common sense.. obama is just more of the same.. there is going to be change alright, a change for the worse.
I’m American douche bag! I was politely explaining to hiragana3 about how he is a tool. He said that Americans and other alphabet users are inherently slower than Japanese users making alphabet users 3 times as inefficient and thus ruining our economies. He’s just another Japanese-supremacist retard.
Let’s hope the great O doesn’t “go Japanese”
Wow, eerie.
hey! hiragana3 kenkajoto fuck u jap
mojoabojo, yes I did imply that what we are doing goes against capitalism, but my last comment wasn’t meant to explain how to make the economy better but to explain how not to make it worse.
Yes but how would this slow economic progress? What would letting businesses go out of business do to help the economy. Scare stock holders? Make the unemployment rate go up?
“You wouldn’t give a horse four prosthetic limbs and expect it to win, would you?”
No but that’s an in-adequate analogy
dhtpt, you just told me that what we are doing goes against capitalism, not how it would better the economy
We most certainly are turning Japanese.
